Saadat Hasan Manto, a grounded short story author works in the sparkling universe of the Bombay entertainment world as a scriptwriter. India acquires freedom on 15 August 1947 and the new country of Pakistan is conceived. Safia leaves for Lahore to go to her sister's wedding.
