Thomas, Newt, and Frypan are the remainder of the free "Gladers" resistant to the Flare infection. The gathering makes it to the mass of the Last City, which shields the city from Wrenches. Thomas, Newt, and Gally enter the Last City through a mystery entrance. Thomas, Newt, and Gally escort Teresa inside WCKD central command and toward the area of the Immunes. Teresa finds that Thomas' blood can fix the Flare. Teresa assaults Janson and liberates Thomas, who battles with Janson. The gathering reunites with the remainder of the Immunes and the Correct Arm and escapes to a place of refuge. Thomas takes the vial of the fix out of his pocket and looks hopefully into the dawn.
